Over 30 governors and trustees were present at the BGA meeting on Tuesday 11th June 2019 to hear the newly appointed interim AD, Julien Kramer, outline his vision for Bury and to answer questions. Julien informed the group that Bury is his 12th authority and that he considers himself to be a safe pair of hands. He stated that with governors' support his aim is to return Bury to its former leading status as an area. He believes that the fundamental pieces are in place for Bury to make that journey.
BGA Summer Term Briefing
The Summer Term BGA Briefing is taking place in the Peel Room in Bury Town Hall at 7.00pm on Tuesday 11th June 2019.
With growing pressures on school finances Steve Goodwin, the Head of Finance for Childrens Services, will be giving an update and answering questions.
Positive Feedback from BGA Spring Conference
Bury College proved to be an excellent venue for the 26 Bury Governors/Trustees who attended the Spring Conference on Saturday 27th April.
BGA Chair Richard Ainsworth gave the welcome and outlined the struture for the conference.

Local Authority - Summer Term Chairs Briefing
The termly Chair's briefing took place in the Peel Room of Bury Town Hall on Tuesday 16th April.
There was an update from Karen Dolton, the Executive Director of Children's Services, who re-iterated her commitment to education, schools and governance. A presentation was given by MPLOY on a careers support service they are providing for more vulnerable high school pupils.
Steve Tilley gave an update on the development of School on a Page - with version 2 soon to be released and branded as the School Education Profile.

The Department for Education published the revised Governance Handbook (March 2019) on Friday 22nd March 2019.

National Governance Association Northwest Regional Conference
A number of Bury governors and trustees attended the NGA NW regional conference on Saturday 2nd March.

Ethical Leadership in Education
The Association of School and College Leaders (ASCL), the National Association of Head Teachers (NAHT) and the NGA have recently published a framework for ethical leadership in education. You can access the report by clicking on the link below:
